In its English edition, titled “Cinema of Resistance,” this journal discusses the connection among freedom-seekers around the world—from Palestine and Algeria to Bosnia and Iran.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Academy of Arts, "Pardeh Khial" is a specialized quarterly published by the Academy of Arts in the fields of cinema and performing arts. With an analytical and critical approach, it examines the concepts, currents, and developments in this domain. Drawing on a research-oriented and specialized perspective, the magazine seeks to provide a platform for theoretical, aesthetic, and cultural issues in cinema and the performing arts, addressing academic audiences, researchers, and serious enthusiasts of the field.

Some issues of "Pardeh Khial" have been published as special dossiers dedicated to current topics and significant case studies in Iranian cinema—including the analysis and review of the Fajr Film Festival from the perspectives of genre studies, thematic analysis, and evaluation of dominant trends. The journal also addresses fundamental issues such as the challenges facing policymakers and artists on the path toward realizing a national cinema, and strives to examine precisely the relationship among cultural policymaking, artistic production, and the representation of identity-related and historical concepts.

The first international issue of this quarterly is devoted to exploring “Cinema of Resistance” as one of the most concerned genres in today’s world. In continuation of the “Third Sacred Defense” current (which has so far lasted more than 200 days), the journal seeks, through an academic discourse, to move beyond the common clichés of war cinema toward an art that plays a role in reclaiming the historical memory of nations.

This collection, while examining visual colonialism and critiquing Hollywood narratives, draws on interdisciplinary approaches to speak of the connection among freedom-seekers of the world—from Palestine and Algeria to Bosnia and Iran—and of the interaction between committed art and the living truth in the world.
