Permanent member and head of the music group of the Academy of Arts of the Islamic Republic of Iran

 

 

Majid Kiani first studied the dulcimer of Abolhassan Saba for four years with Professor Manouchehr Sadeghi and Professor Mohammad Heydari at the National Conservatory of National Music.

He then studied Miz Abdullah with Professor Noor Ali Khan Boroumand and Professor Dariush Safvat at the University of Tehran, Fine Arts Campus, Department of Music.

Habib Samaei continued to learn to play the dulcimer and percussion pieces and compositions for another four years, as well as in the presence of Professor Noor Ali Boroumand.

Majid Kiani also studied a vocal course with Professor Abdullah Davami and studied music at the Sorbonne University in Paris for three years in the field of oriental music with Tran Vanke.

In 1979, he became a member of the faculty of the University of Tehran and taught the theoretical foundations of Iranian music in the music group of the Fine Arts Campus.

In addition to being the director of the Fine Arts Campus music group for seven years, he also managed the Conservation and Dissemination Center for several years.

From 1987 to 2017, Majid Kiani published 59 audio and video works. He wrote 14 books about Iranian music. He held about 200 educational and research concerts in Iran, Europe, Canada and the United States. He wrote 54 articles on Iranian music and its relationship with other Iranian arts, and had 10 interviews and interviews on radio and television. He also conducted about 80 interviews in newspapers, magazines and quarterly magazines.

Currently, he is the director of Sarv Setah Cultural Institute, the head of the music group of the Academy of Arts and its permanent member, as well as a member of the Music Council for the Evaluation of Artists in the Country.
