Najaf Ashraf, 1936-2007
Immortal member of the Academy of Arts of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Education:
- Primary education in Najaf and Tehran;
- Graduated from Dar al-Fonun High School in 1956 and entered the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran;
- Received a master's degree in architecture with honors in 1963 and passed the higher urban planning course in the Faculty of Fine Arts;
- Departure to Italy to continue his studies in the specialized course of research and restoration of historical monuments in 1964;
- Return to the homeland for research in the context of the history of architecture and urban planning in Iran in 1967.
Operating activities:
- Study, design, and implementation of hundreds of projects for the restoration of historical buildings and textures and modern collections in Iran from 1963 to 2007;
- Expert and scientific consultant for the protection and restoration of buildings and historical and cultural sites from 1966 to 2007;
- Head of the Technical Office of the National Organization for the Protection of Antiquities of Iran in Isfahan Province from 1967 to 1979;
- Designer and project manager of the study plan, organizing the restoration and revival of the Safavid government in the city of Isfahan during two periods from 1995 to 2000 and from 1970 to 1974;
- Head of the National Organization for the Protection of Antiquities of Iran and Head of the General Department for the Protection of Antiquities and Historical Monuments from 1979 to 1987;
Founder, managing director, and member of the editorial board of the quarterly work affiliated with the Cultural Heritage Organization from 1979 to 2007;
- Executive Deputy and Deputy Head of the Cultural Heritage Organization from 1987 to 2000;
- Secretary of the Congress of the History of Architecture and Urban Planning of Iran, member of the Congress faculty, the establishment of the Congress Secretariat, holding three sessions of this National Congress in Bam Citadel and scientific editing and effort in publishing fifteen volumes of articles of the three congresses from 1995 to 2007;
- Scientific Secretary of Isfahan Culture and Art Conference in the eleventh and twelfth centuries AH - Faces of architecture and urban planning, Academy of Arts, December 2006;
- Holding a research and art exhibition introducing the historical city of Isfahan entitled Isfahan city of light (Isfahan city of light) in the British Museum in 1976;
- Honorary cooperation during retirement with the Cultural Heritage Organization in connection with the preparation of a plan to repair and revive the cultural and historical complex of Masoudiyeh Mansion in Tehran and honorary supervision over its implementation, restoration of Bam historical citadel, Kaboud Mosque, Ardabil Paradise Dome, Dir Gchin, Bahram Palace, Ein Al-Rasheed, etc .;
- Member of the founding board and chairman of the ICOMOS Iran Cultural Institute, affiliated with the International Council on Buildings and Premises, affiliated with UNESCO;
- The proponents of the study plan, preparation, and compilation of the National Charter for the Protection of Buildings and Sites and cooperation in the implementation of the plan, ICOMOS Iran Cultural Institute affiliated to the International Council of Buildings and Sites and Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism;
- One of the founders of the country's cultural heritage organization. Preparing a draft statute and legal bill for the establishment of the country's cultural heritage organization;
- One of the founders of the Cultural Heritage Higher Education Center;
- Scientific Secretary of the Second Conference on Mosque Architecture, University of Arts;
- Scientific Secretary of the Committee on Architecture and Urban Planning, the Second National Conference of the Iranian Studies Foundation;

- Study and presentation of scientific reports with the three Islamic cities of Indonesia (Kodus, Damak, and Charibun historical protected area) - Scientific-Cultural-Educational Organization, UNESCO in 1975;
- Assessment and expertise of the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan for inclusion in the World Heritage List (ICOMOS International Council of Monuments and Historic Sites affiliated to UNESCO) in 2002;
Evaluation and expertise of the Ahmad Yasavi Historical and Cultural Complex in Turkestan, Kazakhstan - ICOMOS (International Council on UNESCO-affiliated Historic Buildings and Sites) (an article has been published on this mission, in addition to its organization).

- Lecturer and founder of the bachelor's degree in restoration and restoration of historical buildings in the Center for Higher Education of Cultural Heritage in 1994;
